A Different Kind of Public Relations & Marketing Consultant
As a PR and marketing consultant, I frequently remind my clients that perception is everything. I've found that businesses sometimes get distracted or overwhelmed by the various tools and methods of public relations and marketing, while losing sight of the larger objective – shaping perceptions in order to generate leads and deliver sales.
Like it or not, it is your image in the minds of your target market – not your website, business card or tagline – that drives consumer behavior. Does your target market see you as preferable to your competitors? Do they see you as providing a valuable service? Do they view you as trustworthy? These are just a few of the perceptions that determine whether consumers will ultimately do business with you.
A good public relations and marketing consultant maintains a steady focus on shaping and improving your image in the mind of the target consumer. In fact, I conduct a thorough corporate image assessment of each new client I work with, determining both how their target market currently sees them and in what ways their image could be stronger and more compelling.
What I do to help companies improve their public relations and marketing is not magic. In fact, we will most likely continue to use many of the same tools you are already using, such as targeted advertising, media relations campaigns, sales brochures and search engine optimization. The difference is, when you are focused on the bigger picture, you're able to make smarter decisions with your marketing dollar, doing only what delivers measurable results in the form of leads, sales and consumer loyalty.
